Since 1968, the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida has been NASA’s primary launch center for human spaceflight. Owned and operated by Delaware North, The KSC Visitor Complex is made up of interactive, exciting Mission Zones that bring visitors up close to the history and experience of human space exploration. The Heroes and Legends attraction is KSC’s newest addition, highlighting the thrills and dangers of America’s earliest space missions.
Nassal was the on-site exhibits fabricator for the $20 million Heroes and Legends addition, which includes a massive 4D theater experience, over 200 space artifacts and memorabilia, and more than 40 interactives. One of the attraction’s main features is a series of 12-foot storytelling pods inspired by the interior of the space shuttles. Each pod features a title that highlights nine unique characteristics or traits of a hero. Also part of the expansion was the reimagination of the Astronaut Hall of Fame, which is now located on the main campus of Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex.
‘We are thrilled to have been a part of this project that tells such a powerful story. We love working with Delaware North and the Kennedy Space Center, and feel honored to have been a part of their most recent expansion,’ says William P. Nassal, Partner at The Nassal Company.
Heroes and Legends opened in November 2016. Tickets are available on the Kennedy Space Center’s website.
