The Talkin’ Trash exhibit is designed to empower visitors to do small things in their everyday lives to reduce the waste they produce. In this exhibit guests can sort recyclables, investigate a recycling process center, learn how to conserve water and energy and discover how to create a compost pile at home. A recycling truck is parked where visitors can sort bottles, cans, and other packaging. A computer animated tooth brush interactive teaches kids how much water is wasted if you leave the faucet on while brushing your teeth. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate opened in July 2009 and received an LEED Silver certification.
